The nuclear theory project, funded by the Helsinki Institute of Physics (HIP), is looking for a post-doc candidate for a fixed term position. The project activities are located at Jyväskylä, Finland, where the candidate is expected to locate. The length of the contract is one year, with a possible extension to second year. The HIP nuclear theory project works in a close collaboration with the local FIDIPRO group, lead by Prof. Jacek Dobaczewski, and nuclear theory group, lead by Prof. Jouni Suhonen.
Main focus of the HIP nuclear theory project will be on beta- and gamma-decay rates of nuclei relevant for astrophysical processes, super allowed beta-decays to test unitarity of the CKM-matrix, neutrinoless double-beta-decay, and neutrino-nucleus scattering rates at supernova energies, all studied in the framework of nuclear DFT. Also, part of research activities will be directed towards development of novel nuclear EDFs, suitable for beyond mean field studies.
The candidate should arrange to have two letters of recommendation sent, along with a curriculum vitae, publication list, and a one-page statement of research interests with special emphasis on the way he/she may wish to contribute to the project.
Applications for the post-doc position will be collected till March 18th, 2016, or until position is filled. Employment can start on May 1st 2016, or can be negotiated to start later.
Send applications to markus.kortelainen@jyu.fi.
